Richard White offers clients his expert knowledge
in the areas of business planning and strategy, operations, venture capital financing and strategic partnering.
As a former CEO of two high-technology companies, Richard understands the demands faced by today’s leaders
as they attempt to attract investment, build strong teams, implement management discipline and take products to market.
Richard was most recently with Solidum Systems Corp., as the company's President and CEO
from 2000 until the sale of the company to IDT in late 2002. He was responsible for
securing the financing of $40 million over several rounds and he led the activities
relating to the positioning and sale of the company to IDT. During this time, Solidum
grew to be the acknowledged leader in deep packet classification with significant partners,
including Intel, Altera and IDT.
Prior to his years at Solidum, Richard served as Vice-President Operations with
Extreme Packet Devices in 2000. He was responsible for the quality and delivery of the traffic
management chipset through the supply chain. The company was acquired in a landmark deal
for Ottawa, by PMC-Sierra for $600 million in 2000.
In 1999, Richard was Director Business Development for Nitidus Technology Inc.,
an e-commerce, and early stage-software company focused on providing enabling technology
for B-to-B communities. Richard was responsible for identifying strategic partners,
including Parametric Technology Inc., which bought the company that same year.
As President and CEO of Accelerix Inc., a fabless semiconductor company developing 2-D and 3-D graphics chips,
Richard was responsible for securing the financing of $26 million during his tenure, from 1996 until
the company was sold to MOSAID in 1999.
Richard has also worked as Director Business Development with Prior Data Sciences,
Executive Vice President at Enhance Systems Inc., VP Strategic Resources and Director Product Engineering
at NovAtel Communications Ltd., and Project Manager and Design Engineer at Mitel.
Richard graduated from Carleton University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1979 and completed an
executive MBA (PMD60) from Harvard Business School in 1990. Richard is an avid cyclist, and enjoys skiing
with his family during the winter months. In his community, Richard takes an active role in Habitat for Humanity.
