One of the co-founders and principal partners at Reid Eddison, Peter Reid
draws from his prolific experience as a senior corporate executive in the IT industry, from start-ups through to SMEs and
larger public companies.
After receiving his CA degree in 1970, Peter worked for 10 years as a senior manager with Price Waterhouse in
Toronto and Ottawa. He has worked in public accounting in Canada, Australia and Africa. Leaving public practice in
1981 to join the technology industry in Ottawa, Peter served as Vice-President and Controller for Nabu Manufacturing
Corporation and later as Vice-President of Finance for Nabu Network Corporation.
Prior to co-founding Reid Eddison, Peter held the positions of Chief Financial Officer, Vice-President of
Finance at Fulcrum Technologies Inc. and, from 1986 to 1996, he was a member of the Board of Directors.
Responsible for the entire range of finance functions -- including private and public placements in Canada and
the US as well as mergers and acquisitions -- in 1990 Peter completed the strategic alliance of Fulcrum with
Italian IPO Datamat Ingegneria dei Sistemi, the subsequent IPO of Fulcrum on the NASDAQ in 1993, and the
public offering and listing of Fulcrum on the TSX in 1995. In addition to his financial portfolio,
Peter oversaw the Human Resources, Information Systems and Strategic and Operational Planning functions.
Peter's commitment to industry is evidenced by the numerous Canadian, US and international boards of private
and public technology companies on which he either sits or chairs. He was also a long-time member of the
Executive Committee and Treasurer of the Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA Alliance).
Peter also devotes time to various philanthropic and charitable pursuits. He currently sits as an executive
member of the Board of Governors for the Ottawa Community Foundation, serves as Vice-Chair on the Board of
Directors of Food for the Hungry International (Geneva, Switzerland), and as Vice-Chair of the Board of
Directors for Canadian Food for the Hungry International (Abbotsford, BC).
As a result of these efforts, Peter received the prestigious award 'Outstanding Individual Philanthropist
for Ottawa' in 1998. In 2002, he was recognized as 'Civic Entrepreneur of the Year in Ottawa', awarded by
the Ottawa Center for Research and Innovation (OCRI) and the University of Ottawa Centre on Governance.
